The Challenge

The Queensland Women in STEM Prize supports innovation and collaboration between Queensland women working in STEM fields.

Queensland's female experts in STEM fields are international leaders and at the forefront of many breakthroughs and discoveries. They are working to make a difference to the wellbeing of individuals and communities locally, nationally and internationally.
The competition identifies female STEM professionals who are making a positive contribution to their individual field and engaging with a broader community. Entrants are supported to further develop their communication skills with a targeted training session in Brisbane or Townsville.

Three cash prizes of $5,000 are available:

  • Jury Award presented to the most meritorious applicant, as determined by a panel of esteemed judges
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Jury Award presented to the most meritorious Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicant, as determined by a panel of esteemed judges
  • People’s Choice Award presented to the applicant with the highest number of public votes.
