Currently, Stora Enso has a manufacturing process in place to produce one of their renewable materials. This process consumes large amounts of periodate, a very costly oxidizing agent. The entire reaction process is taking place in an aqueous solution and may contain, next to start, end and side products, other contaminants such as ions (calcium, magnesium, etc). In order to further scale and make the manufacturing process more economically viable, the recovery of periodate from iodate needs to be improved.
Hence, Stora Enso are seeking approaches that allow the efficient regeneration of periodate from iodate in aqueous reagents. Further, Stora Enso is open for collaborations with experts in the field to develop and test proposed concepts.Stora Enso are keen to work with the selected solution providers to test, develop and prototype the methods.
